Hello
Texas Clay fans!!!!!! I am Jan Dixon and I am from
Sugar Land, Texas, which is just southwest of Houston.
I'm the Texas State Coordinator for the Wrapping For
Inclusion Project for the Bubel Aiken Foundation, and
I am really excited about getting Texas involved in
the WFI project this year. If you haven't heard about
this, this is where we make arrangements with a store
like Borders or Toys R Us, etc. to wrap their
customers' gifts in exchange for a donation to BAF.
Many cities around the country have had a lot of
success, and I am really hoping that there will be a
lot of people who will want to help out in Texas this
year
What we really need right now is for people to sign up
to be City Team Leaders around the state. You would be
in charge of arranging with a store(s) in your city to
allow you to come in with your volunteers to wrap on
arranged days. You also are in charge of finding
volunteers, which could be other Clay fans, friends,
family members, high school kids who maybe get credit
for working on such projects, etc. I would like to
encourage as many people as possible from various
cities around Texas to sign up to be a City Leader. We
could use more than one City Leader in larger cities
such as Houston and Dallas. If you are interested in
getting information about doing this, please email me
at jandixon56@yahoo.com or respond to this post here.
I'd be glad to answer any of your questions, and if I
don't have the answer, I'll get it for you as quickly
as possible.
This is going to be so much fun, I believe, and we
will be doing such a good thing -- raising money for
BAF to run their camps and such. And also getting to
know other Texas fans. Texas has not gotten as
involved in the past as I hope we will this year. We
have so much we can give to this fundraiser, and I
really want to see us shine for Clay and the kids this
year!!! In getting involved, we first and foremost
want to spread the word about BAF and raise money for
their work. But secondly, I believe this project can
help us bond with other Texas fans. I think we really
need to do this in Texas, especially since we are so
spread out. It is harder in Texas for us to get
together because our state is so big!! We are the size
of 2-3 states from up north!! So we really have to
make an effort to start getting together in our
particular cities and working together as a group.
Those interested in being City Leaders and also in
helping with the wrapping, please contact me at
jandixon56@yahoo.com!!!! If lots of us work together,
the results will be awesome!!! Thanks!!!!!
